Exercising outdoors is good for your health, but it is also important to protect your skin from the sun through sunscreen. This applies to all ages, whether you are on the field or watching along the sidelines. At BH&BC Breda, we value the health of our members and visitors. Therefore, in cooperation with Smeerkees Zonnebrand, Oryx Stainless, PS Poelman and the Amphia, we have ensured a sun-safe sports environment and provide free sunscreen (with an SPF of 30) during the months when it is needed, namely all months except winter. You can pick up this sunscreen for free from the Sunscreen Point.

The power of the sun

It is common knowledge that overexposure to the sun is harmful to the skin. The skin becomes thicker, more rigid and may turn yellow. In addition, wrinkles and red and brown spots may appear. In the worst cases, excessive sun exposure can lead to skin cancer, a disease that affects one in five Dutch people. Unfortunately, this disease is more common in the Netherlands than in most other European countries. Using sunscreen is an effective way to protect the skin from the sun. However, despite this knowledge, we do not always apply sunscreen properly to ourselves. This may be because we underestimate the power of the sun, do not realize how long we are exposed to the sun, or simply because we forget. It is important to think about this and take care of our skin by applying sunscreen regularly.

And don’t forget the children

For healthy outdoor exercise, sunscreen is essential because you can get sunburned even with short-term exposure to the sun. Therefore, apply sunscreen to yourself half an hour before exercising, regardless of the weather, and especially don’t forget to apply extra good sunscreen to children because they are especially vulnerable to the sun. This is how we keep sports healthy together!

Free sunscreen at BH&BC Breda

Because HC Breda considers the health of its members and guests so important, we take our responsibility. From the weekend of 1-2 April you will find a Lubrication Point on the outside grounds. Here everyone can apply sunscreen factor 30 SPF for free. So that you can play or watch well protected. Has your last oiling been more than two hours ago? Even then you can go to the Sunscreen Point.

As far as we are concerned, greasing up becomes regular routine. And just as natural as drinking enough water or wearing shin guards on the field.
