Sunscreen tubes for OUR customers

Thursday, July 25, Alderman Jacco Knape visited the Food Bank and the Pantry to hand out the 300 tubes of sunscreen. The two organizations will in turn distribute the tubes to families who use their services. The donation is part of a two-year project to reduce skin cancer among residents.

Skin Cancer

Skin cancer is more common in the coastal municipalities of Noordwijk and Katwijk. The cancer atlas shows that this disease is more common along the coast than in an average Dutch municipality. Thanks to a grant from KWF, the GGD and the municipality of Katwijk are participating in a two-year project to reduce skin cancer among residents.

Consciousness

With the project, the municipality and the GGD hope to make residents more aware of the dangers of the sun and ensure that they use the sun safely. So as to be better protected against skin cancer. Therefore, this year, in addition to the four sunscreen posts at the beach and Valkenburg Lake, the municipality received tubes of sunscreen Three hundred tubes of sunscreen for Food Bank and Pantry.
